BRAINSAREFUN FEARLESS FRIDAY BLOG – news from the reading renaissance – March 1, 2013

There's a lot of concern these days about our children's economic future. The question is usually asked this way, "How are they going to compete in a global market?"

I believe the only way for our children to compete is for them to continue their educations. They must be provided every opportunity to succeed academically. They must be provided with the essential skills and behaviors required of any undertaking.

WHAT IS THE SHORT LIST OF SKILLS I'M TALKING ABOUT? As far as continuing their educations is concerned the basic skills are reading, writing, listening, speaking, information organization, critical thinking, study skills and success with math.

THE 3 BEHAVIORS we focus on at Brainsarefun are starting on time, staying on task and completing assignments. How much struggle could be eliminated if we could just master these three tiny-little behaviors?

This all sounds pretty familiar doesn't it? The question is "How are we going to teach these skills and behaviors?" That. of course, is the $1 million question schools and parents wrestle with on a daily basis. How? How How?

The very short answer is this, "We're going to teach our kids to read and succeed with math." Yes, Virginia, there really are skills, tools and solutions that will allow us to do just that. I recommend you start by signing up for our 10 free reading tools, skills and solutions. I think you're going to like them.
